The power distribution system is responsible for the electricity to each end user, it is perfect or not directly related with the electricity reliability and power quality of the broad masses of users, so it has a very important position in the power system.With electrical automation products application of modern power electronic technology, automatic control technology, sensor technology, wireless radio frequency technology, computer and network communication technology,to provide users with intelligent equipment monitoring and control management and remote online monitoring services.The electrical automation products can realize the power distribution system, fault and abnormal situation of normal running state monitoring protection and control.In distribution network failure the electrical automation products can quickly isolate faults, narrow scope of power, shorten the blackout time,improve the quality of power supply reliability and power supply,to ensure stable and reliable distribution networkgood running.As people to continuously attaches great importance to the development of distribution automation, how to improve the level of distribution network automation become an urgent task of current electric power industry development.FTU-Feeder Terminal Unit,is Part of the distribution network automation system remote terminal,developed from Dispatching automation or RTU.Feeder automation terminal monitoring the state of the feeder line, it installed on the distribution network feeder circuit of column and the place such as switch cabinet,to achieve Data collection, protection,communication and on-site automatic control function.In this paper,the intelligent FTU is a new automation remote terminalis based on the national grid new standard,it is the latest generation remote terminalof intelligent power distribution network.It adopted a new generation ARM9 processor based on ARM926。Designed a new hardware platform and software system.The electromagnetic compatibility of the terminal and high and low temperature properties were deeply studied.The new FTU can able to adapt to the complex environment on the job.This product can be widely used in rural areas, cities and enterprises of power distribution automation project.lt can improve the automation level of distribution network, has a good application prospect.
