The main reducer is one of the main working parts in the car, its function is to reduce the output power and speed, change the direction of rotation and increase torque, and transmit the power to the drive shaft to give the vehicle traction and speed. The quality of the main reducer production and equipment will affect the performance of the car, and in the process of the main reducer gear, a very important part is the measurement and adjustment of backlash. A proper backlash can make the driving comfort, reduce noise, and prolong the working life of the main reducer.First, this paper introduces the overall structure and the agencies’functions of the main reducer integrated test-bed, then redesign the measuring and adjusting structure of the backlash, and design the electric control system with PLC as control center.Second meshing theory of gears was studied, and the calculation formula of standard backlash was concluded. Then design two method of the backlash measurement, and in addition to a method of calculating formula. The backlash adjustment method and its formula was also designed.Then the controller of equipment was selected, and ultimately the Siemens S7-300 PLC was chosen. The program was edited as a structured programming way.Finally, the main reducer integrated test-bed as a platform to ten code 440 artifacts as the object, three sets of tests have been carried out. The first set of test measured the accurate ratio of each artifact; The second set of tests has measured the backlash of artifacts by using rotary measuring method, and the validity of the rotation measurement was proved to be correct by comparing the data with the Artificial measurement by dial indicator. The third group test have adjusted the backlash of unqualified artifacts, and the backlash adjustment method was proved to be feasible by remeasuring the backlash.
