With the development of China’s hydropower industry, the number of hydropower projects is increasing and the scale is enlarging. Hydropower projects are often built in complicated geological environment. In this sense, the stability of the slopes has become the focusing attention, making it more and more important to make a reasonable analysis and evaluation to the slopes, and also provide a scientific basis for the construction and operation of the hydropower projects. This paper takes the complicated condition of the slope on the right bank of Danba Hydropower Project as an example, and tries to study the potential global and local deformation and failure mechanisms basing on the topography, lithology, geological structure and adverse geolgical phenomena, then calculates and analyses the stability of rock and soil slope by using qualitative and quantitative calculation, and finally makes a comprehensive evaluation division for the complicated slope and at the same time presents the treatment measures and suggestions. The main content and results of the research are as follows:(1) According the analysis of the geological environmental conditions on the right bank, the exposed strata is Smx5-3、Smx5"2 and Quaternary loose. The five groups of Silurian Maoxian group is mainly quartzite, granulite, marble and quartz schist; Quaternary loose are mainly landslide deposits and collapse deposits.There aren’t regional tectonic fracture and Ⅰ、Ⅱ structural surface.(2) The soil slope is mainly on the right bank of the junction area, the range of the rock slope is not big. The deformation and failure type of the soil slope is mainly landslide, the rest form of the deformation and failure are not large-scale.(3) Based on the rock mass classification, Routine Soil Test results, Laboratory Shear Test results and In-situ Shear Test results, then, the parameters could be proposed. On the foundation, the shear strength and deformation modulus parameters value of rock mass could be proposed.(4) On the basis of qualitative evaluation, the evaluation of slope stability is made by quantitative calculation. For landslide, this paper study the influence factors and genetic mechanism and part of landslide use numerical simulation to study.To evaluate the stability of the slope, The quantitative calculation of slope stability is considered as a combination of 6 working conditions, which is a combination of lasting, transient and accidental conditions of natural and impounding.(5) According to the distribution of rock and soil and the stability of landslide and collapse, the slope on the right bank is divided into five regions to evaluate the stability, which is RT1 (Kaka 1# landslide), RT2 (Kaka 1# collapse), RT3 (Kaka 2# collapse), RT4 (Liulin landslide) and RY1 (rock slope of abutment).(6) Combined with the results of the evaluation of the stability of different zones, the impact of the project is evaluated and suggestions are put forward.
