In general, there are three kinds of commonly used physical indicators for quantifying the performance of structures, including force, displacement and energy. In the perspective of seismic structural design, the global or local displacement of a structure under earthquake influence is a reflection of structural damage extent and an important way of controlling structure properties. It is the most widely used and most mature means of performance-based design. The indirect design method can be generalized in three steps: 1.Obtain structure reinforcement and other basic information with traditional design flow; 2.Obtain Pushover curve (structural capacity curve) by Pushover test; 3.Analyze performance index of structural displacement by capacity spectrum method etc. The structural design will be corrected and the Pushover will be reopened until performance index meets the requirement. This method is tend to be accepted by engineers since it doesn’t change traditional design flow, and it has become the most popular approach in performance based seismic design. 1).Performance-based seismic deign is widely used in high-rise building system, which makes Pushover test an increasingly important issue. 2).Connection design is a key part of high rise hybrid structures. In the perspective of seismic design, cover plate, lateral plate, haunched and dog-bone are four ways to satisfy the design principle of "strong joint weak element". The key point and treatment of those different methods of mitigating earthquake catastrophes are proposed after analyzing by ABAQUS. Two aspects (Pushover test and beam-column joint finite element analysis) are proposed in this paper to conduct research on performance-based seismic deign method of high-rise building, both globally and locally, to provide references for related research in civil engineering.
