With the technologic development and the application of composite foundation, the types of composite foundation has changed greatly in these years. Among these new foundation forms, the long-short-pile composite foundation is a typical one that is commonly used in engineering.Long-short-pile composite foundation is generally made of rigid long pile and flexible short pile. Through the interaction between long pile and short pile, the settlement can be reduced and the bearing capacity of foundation can be improved. Hence, the long-short-pile composite foundation can bring good economic benefits.Firstly, the basic theory and general development situation of long-short-pile composite foundation are summarized in this paper.Secondly, the flexible pile composite foundation is simplified as a transversely isotropic body after its pile-soil is homogenized. Then, the constitutive relation of this transversely isotropic body is established and five parameters are obtained. Using these parameters, two finite element models are built. The analysis of living examples shows that it is feasible to apply this homogenized model and parameter solution method to cement paddling pile composite foundation.At last, we apply the pile-soil homogeneous model to the composite foundation by homogenizing the flexible short piles of long-short-pile composite foundation. Thus, the homogenized soil and rigid long pilesform the composite soil foundation. The simulation results are compared with an engineering example, the conclusion indicates that this model can satisfy the engineering demand.
