With the rapid development of economy and urbanization of China, number of vehicles owned has been increased year by year, and parking problems are becoming prominent. In addition, how to improve the automation of parking lots while reducing the management costs has also become a serious problem.To solve this problem, this paper designs an intelligent parking system. The system uses the geomagnetic field to get information of vehicles, and wireless sensor networks is used to collect and transmit data. The system has the following functions: parking space state judgement, non-standardized parking detection, vehicle classification and navigation, parking space booking and self payment service and so on.Firstly, this paper designs the structure of the intelligent parking system, including data collection layer and terminal display layer. The system can collect magnetic field data of each parking space as well as the entrance of the parking lot, and analyze the information of a vehicle, including existence, position and type. Then the system can send these information to the server through wireless sensor networks, to help drivers and administrators observe the information of the parking lot through terminal software, at anytime and from anywhere.Secondly, based on the principle of geomagnetic field detection, the magnetic field model of a vehicle is proposed. By both simulation and experimental measurement data, the key algorithms of the intelligent parking system are designed, including vehicle detection algorithm, non-standardized parking detection algorithm and vehicle classification algorithm.Thirdly, the sensor node in the data collection layer is designed, including the hardware and the software, the format of the data packet and the configuration of the wireless module. The designed node can satisfy the need of collecting, analyzing and transmitting data in the intelligent parking system.Finally, the terminal software in the terminal display layer is designed, and the system is implemented. Drivers and administrators can choose different software to view the state of the parking lot according to different needs. The implementation includes the deployment of the sensor nodes. In addition, a demonstration of a driver using the system is also given.
