As a chemical power source, lead-acid battery is widely used in many fields and largely demanded. One of the production processes is turning battery from 0 ° to180 °, then press down the plastic cover compound. At present, this process mainly relies on manual labor. Hand operation will bring many negative effects such like low efficiency, battery broken, and even harms the health of workers because of the poor working environment. This paper studied about the scheme design, dimensional synthesis, structural design and motion and dynamic performance of the automatic lead-acid battery upender in this process.The main works in this paper can be concluded as follows:In this paper, the request of motion for automatic lead-acid battery upender was analyzed. The morphologic matrix was established by using the function analysis method. A new overall scheme for automatic lead-acid battery upender was came up,this new overall scheme used mechanism which was composed of oscillating guided bar mechanism and double-rocker mechanism as switching mechanism. Overall distribution and structure was designed, and the parametric design for automatic lead-acid battery upender was finished by using the design module of Pro/E.The dimension synthesis of double-rocker mechanism was accomplished by using the rigid body displacement matrix and combining with the transmission characteristics of double-rocker mechanism. The length of each linkage was obtained.The cylinder cam mechanism of automatic lead-acid battery upender was designed, its movement characteristic was analysed and validated through the movement simulation. Based on the result, movement characteristic of switching mechanism was completed.Dynamic characteristic of switching mechanism was calculated by using simulating analysis. The strength of key parts was checked by using ANSYS software.And the corresponding structure was modified, which was based on the analysis results, in order to ensure that the movement was correct and structure strength was reasonable.
