With the prosperity and development of the career of our country civil aviation, terminal area traffic crowding often occur, leading to disrupt the normal flight arrival and departure plan, affect the flight operation or lead to flight delays, the airline company have to bear great economic losses, has also produced some flight safety risks.The causes of these problems are closely related to the limited capacity of the airport or terminal area and the increasing of the demand for aviation. The total terminal demand exceeds the total load capacity; Current terminal area capacity has been unable to meet the current demand for air transport. Capacity research is an important part of air traffic flow management. Terminal area capacity evaluation is an important basis for the implementation of the terminal area traffic management strategy, especially for reducing flight delays and ensuring flight safety play an important role.A new generation of aviation transportation from the international civil aviation organization implementation based on the continuous descent operation of performance based navigation, Analyzing the current terminal area capacity and combining with the traditional terminal area capacity research to analyze and evaluate the airport capacity from the point of view of the actual operation, Comprehensive and systematic analysis and discusses the influence of terminal area capacity factors and air traffic controller work load. At the same time, this paper introduces the development situation of terminal area capacity theory and method at home and abroad in recent years, discusses the concept and relation of capacity and related capacity, and puts forward the evaluation model and evaluation method. According to the characteristics of the current terminal area, through the comparative analysis of the implementation of the PBN based on the continuous descent operation in the increase in the airspace capacity of the characteristics, Combined with the characteristics of flight operation and air traffic management services to optimize the flight flow, the multiple aspects of the improvement of the terminal area to improve the capacity, reduce flight delays. Proposed in the flight plan arrangement, air traffic control automation equipment requirements, controllers skills training, airborne equipment, controllers training etc. further increase airspace capacity requirements and recommendations.
