Cylinder in national defense, aerospace, transportation and other fields has been widely applied. But in use process the surface or the inner of the cylinder will produce different degrees of defects. These defects often will reduce the use effect of the products. Therefore, in the production process and use process, nondestructive testing carried out on the cylinder is very great significance. In this article, the cylinder are regarded as object of study, the cylinder sound field by finite element method simulate and analyze of defect echo characteristics. The paper is according to the principle of the cylinder ultrasonic testing, combined with the finite element simulation technology, using the ANSYS software simulated the process of the cylinder ultrasonic testing, the defect echo signal is obtained, and the validity of the simulation is verified by an actual signal. On this basis, from the model size, excitation frequency, and the grid size of defect echo signal simulation is analyzed. Considering the accuracy of the simulation and the simulation efficiency, the paper determine the model of radius of 5 mm, excitation frequency of 2.5M, the grid size of 0.1mm as a follow-up study of simulation parameters. According to the principle of the cylinder defects in ultrasonic testing, applying incentive in detecting surface a week in turn 360 degrees in simulation, analyzes the different location, different size and shape of defect echo signal characteristic, it is concluded that defect characteristics of echo amplitude and defect position relative to the excitation signal launch Angle between the law of defect echo signal characteristics and relations of databases.Paper relations can provide reference for the actual defect detection, in order to further provides the reference for the study of defect type recognition and defect reconstruction.
