Chinese ancient architecture holds a very important position for unique style and historical value. Load-bearing system of Chinese ancient timber buildings is mostly wooden frame, and a kind of unique member which is named Dougong appeared during the ancient structure developing process.This paper describes he origin and its development of Dougong and summarizing of evolution its structural function. The characteristic of Dougong in Sichuan summarized from layout number and construction features, which is "complicated on the facade and simplified on the rear side" and "numerous on the facade and limited on the rear side". Raoyisi in Shehong is a typical example, in which there has been many cases with layout number of dangxinjian and construction features. So this paper studies the influence of construction features and layout number on the whole structure, and conclusions are drew as following aspects:(1) The axial loading experiment and the low-cyclic reversed loading experiment of Dougong in Main Hall of Raoyisi are numerically simulated by ANSYS program. Base on these research, calculating mode of touxinzao and jixinzao are carried out, and comparison between the two are take into account.(2) seismic analysis of actual structure and type A(touxinzao are replaced with jixinzao in Main Hall) are studied. Combined with dynamic response of the two, it’s find out the top displacement of Dougong in type A decrease by 6%.And in addition, the top acceleration of Dougong decrease by 8% in average under the influence of earthquake waves.(3) History analysis has been done which is including type A, B and C(different number of these three types), and seismic response are compared. It is shown that the displacement, acceleration and the structural internal force decreased with the number of Dougong increased.In summary, Compared with touxinzao, the vertical ultimate bearing capacity and lateral stiffness of jixinzao is bigger, and it can reduce the dynamic response of the structure; Moreover, the quantity of Dougong has direct ratio relationship with overall structure’s seismic performance.
