Lithium-ion battery is often used as the power source of electric vehicles, and it is related to the environment temperature. In order to keep the battery working in the right temperature range, the battery thermal management system is vital to the battery management system. This article giving an analysis of a type of lithium-ion battery thermal management using paraffin wax.In the first part, we tested battery energy and cycle life span under different temperatures. After making sure the suitable temperature range, we build the thermal model to acknowledge the heat generation rate of differentcurrent.Then we build the model of lithium-ion with COMSOL Multiphysics, and it is not difficult to simulate the temperature of batteryunder temperaturefrom 0℃ to 50℃. With the simulation results, it is clear that PCM cooling is better thannaturalconvectioncooling from the aspect of heat dissipation.Finally, we also found that physic properties, heat conductivity, thickness of PCM and battery shell are key points in the heat dissipation. |
