The Novel Rotating Froth Scrubber is a new scrubber, it utilizes the froth zone to intensify the gas-liquid mass transfer. Compared with traditional washing equipment, it has special features and benefits, such as small footprint, simple operation, long durability, versatility, lower cost and high efficiency,etc. In this scrubber, the momentum of gas and liquid It can be used in metallurgy, power plants, cement plants, phosphoric acid plant, titanium dioxide plant, coking plants, refineries boiler and so on.In the Novel Rotating Froth Scrubber, the gas collides with the liquid to create the froth zone, where the gas-liquid interface is continuously, rapidly renewed and backmixing. So it has high efficiency in gas-liquid mass or heat transfer.This paper studied the hydrodynamic and mass transfer characteristics of the Novel Rotating Froth Scrubber. The hydrodynamic performance of the scrubber, in this paper, including both upper and lower limit of the gas and liquid flow, pressure drop, spray height, liquid velocity, gas velocity, etc. The results showed that it would create a forth zone when the liquid-gas ratio was between 0.009 and 0.02, gas flow was between 155.67m3/h and 355.34 m3/h. According to the experiment, we obtained the pressure drop, the spray height and the empirical correlations, and then we knew that, the fluid property, scrubber structure and size were all affect the hydrodynamic property. In this paper, we established the velocity distribution models, which could describe both gas and liquid flow in the Novel Rotating Froth Scrubber.And then, establishing a mass-transfer differential equation based on the velocity distribution models. After a series of mathematic deducing and calculation, we finally established the mass-transfer model. This model explained the mass transfer between free turbulent jet and gas. It is benefit for the further study of the mass transfer in this scrubber and the mass transfer strengthening component.In this paper, we compared the hydrodynamic performance and mass transfer of the scrubber with dynawave and spiral nozzle to illustrate the importance of nozzle structure. Results showed that the resistance of the dynawave nozzle is higher than the spiral nozzle. And the nozzle structure affected the property of the Novel Rotating Froth Scrubber. The mass transfer efficiency based on dynawave nozzle was higher, but the mass transfer coefficients of liquid phase dynamic based on dynawave nozzle was slightly lower.
