The urgent contradiction between the energy and the auto industry has become the important problems influencing the sustainable development of social economy. Taking effective measures both in the search of alternative energy and improving energy efficiency is crucial to the promotion of economic and social rapid development.Based on the fundamental turbulent combustion research of engine alternative fuels and the shortages raised in the related experiment apparatus, such as heterogeneous turbulent environment, low resistance to pressure, much limitation in experimental fuels, less controllable variables, etc., the research focused on the general design of constant volume vessel for the turbulent combustion (CVVTC) at first, followed by the detailed analysis and evaluation on the constant volume vessel (CVV), gas intake system and data acquisition system.Secondly, the design of the double-end-cover structure for the sealing of CVV has achieved the convenient disassembly and assembly the quartz glass. Besides, a detailed reliability check on the vessel body, quartz glass and fixing bolts has been conducted to ensure the safety of the experimental system. In attrition, independent air intake system was designed to eliminate the influence of gas volume of mixture equivalence ratio. A combustion pressure acquisition module was designed to obtain pressure during the whole combustion process and the high speed camera and schlieren apparatus were used to capture the instantaneous turbulent combustion flame.Based on the comparative analysis among various turbulence generation systems, a brand-new method for the generation of steady turbulence was put forward. A "pyramid" type fan layout was used and orifice cover was set at the end of flow channel to turn ordered swirl into jet, and with the collision of the four jets, a disorder turbulence was formed in CVV central region.In addition, focusing on the problems of numerous flame images and the difficulty of flame manual measuring the flame characteristic parameter, this study developed a flame image batch processing algorithm in MATLAB platform, realizing the batch read of flame image, flame contour detection, feature parameter calculation, result report and other functions, enhancing the processing efficiency and accuracy of the test image.Finally, based on the CVVTC, experimental research in hydrogen-air turbulent premixed flame was carried out under various initial turbulence intensity, initial turbulence scale, initial turbulent pressure and equivalence ratios, realizing the overall performance detection of experiment apparatus and the study of flame characteristics in turbulent atmosphere.
