With the development of modern technology and automobile industry, the operating performance of vehicle steering switches has become increasingly various and the design of them has been more and more irregular. Besides, large amount of new design will continue to arise. Reliable and scientific automatic detection and evaluation technology turn to be the essential means to evaluate the goodness of vehicle steering switch.On the analysis of conventional subjective evaluation method and after screening necessary parameters in the construction of objective evaluation method, the author presents a novel evaluation method by establishing mapping relation between objective evaluation parameters and subjective evaluation results.To construct objective evaluation method effectively, firstly, factor anlysis in multivariate statistics is adopted to analyze ten factors of conventional touching evaluation of steering switch performance. Three influences of subjuctive evaluation results are obtained, which are sense of force, sense of friction and sense of stroke. Secondly, internal strucure and shifting process of vehicle steering switch is analyzed. Five parameters of objective evaluaiton, corresponding influences of subjective evaluation results, are obatained, which are shifting force Fm, inflexion force Fe, rise time t1, critical process time t2 and adding force process time t3.When constructing the mapping relation between vehicle steering switch subjective evaluation results and objective evaluation parameters, objective evaluation method are established by Bayes method with 100 sets experimantal datas which are tested by Changchun FAW R&D Center electrical laboratory. Among the 100 sets of datas,70 sets of them are training samples to establish decision rule, the rest 30 sets are test samples to varify the veracity and reliability of the decision rule.Check experiments, using distance discrimination, Fisher discrimination and stepwise discrimination to construct decision rule, are taken to varify the advantage of steering switch objective evaluation method based on Bayes discrimination. After comprehensively analyzing the discriminant results of established decision rules, the rule based on Bayes method, of which accuracy of both training samples and test samples is 100.0% and of absolute accuracy of training samples and test samples is 82.9% and 86.7% separately, shows up greater evaluaiotn performance. It is demonstrated that steering switch objective evaluation method based on Bayes discrimination has grater advantages.
