In recent years, with the development of china’s public transportation, the design and production capacity in bus industry has been enhanced. C AE analysis technology has been widely applied to the design of the bus body structure. But with the increase of requirements for bus design, bus enterprise’s requirements for CAE analysis precision also increased. In the finite element modeling of bus’ s window adhesive glass area, since the material properties of the window glass and the adhesive are complex, researcher ignore the adhesive glass’ s influence on bus in order to simplify the CAE modeling process. So how to establish a bus structure with adhesive glass conveniently and precisely has become a most important problem in bus CAE analysis.In this paper, according to the problem occurred in bus’ s adhesive glass modeling, a series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window is established which can apply to bus’ s strength and stiffness analysis, even coach rollover crashworthiness analysis.Determine the equivalent parameters of series-stiffness model based on parametric design thoughts. The series-stiffness model’s effectiveness was validated by the experiment. Several simplified modeling method of bus’ s adhesive window glass was compared. The windshield and side windows’ influence on vehicle’s strength and stiffness was studied based on series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window. Finally, the effectiveness of the series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window has been demonstrated in coach rollover crashworthiness analysis through test and simulations. Windshield and side window’s influence was analyzed on coach rollover crashworthiness analysis, based on series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window. Through the above research, we can obtain the properties of coach with glass by CAE analysis accurately in the early design stages. It can provide a reference for body structure design.The main contents of this paper follow as:A series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window was proposed through the analysis of body structure. Define a series-stiffness zone combined with adhesive and window glass, and fix the material parameter of series-stiffness zone to make the analysis result more accurate. Focus on a simplified model of one coach side panel as research objects, and obtain the equivalent parameter by least square principle based on parameter design thought. Prove the effectiveness of series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window by experiment. At the same time, the effects law of mesh size on calculation precision was researched. Finally, compared with other simplified model, highlight the series-stiffness model’s advantage. And provide a reference for further investigation and engineering application.Secondly, focus on a 12 m coach as research objects, analysis the bending rigidity and torsional rigidity on bus body frame, and analysis the strength of bus body frame in full- load bending and bending-torsional condition. Add the window glass to body frame based on series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window, then analysis the static mechanical properties of body frame and body with glass in same condition. Compare the static mechanical properties of body frame and body with glass, we summarize the correlation between bus window glass and static mechanical properties of bus body.The third, analysis the correlation between bus adhesive window glass and coach rollover safety, focus on a bus body segment as research objects. Set a bus body segment frame FEM model which was verified by experiment. Establish a bus body segment which has window glass based the series-stiffness model. At the same time, set up a bus body segment which has window glass by traditional way, the effectiveness of the series-stiffness model of adhesive bus window has been demonstrate in coach rollover crashworthiness analysis by compare two model’s analysis result. Finally, based on a 12 m coach frame structure, the windshield and side window glass’ s influence on bus rollover safety was researched in view of energy and deformation.
