Wind and solar energy as abundant renewable resources are naturally complementary in geography and time, which makes the wind/PV hybrid generation system having higher energy efficiency, more comprehensive social benefits and lower costs. Therefore, the study of wind/PV hybrid system has the significance in solving the world’s energy problems and protecting the environment, and also has got extensive attention.This study is based on the small-scale grid connected wind/PV hybrid generation system, and the main work is as follows:Firstly, based on the structure of the grid connected wind-solar hybrid generation system with common dc bus, it analyzes the working principles and characteristic of the PV(photovoltaic) power system and the wind power system respectively. And then the subsystem models are built in the MATLAB/Simulink circumstance to simulate system under different wind speed and irradiation intensity.Secondly, based on the system structure, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control strategies are researched and optimized to make maximum use of the wind and solar energy. For the variable-speed adjustable-pitch wind turbine, the pitch angle controller is applied to adjust the output power.Thirdly, research and design of the grid connected inverter. It introduces the topology and working principles of the single-phase grid connected inverter. Considering the changing wind speed and irradiation intensity, an optimized deadbeat control strategy is proposed to improve the conversion efficiency and reduce the grid-connected current harmonic.Then the MATLAB/Simulink tool is applied in establishing the whole system model. To verify the theoretical design, a test prototype is built. The hardware and software design is detailed.Finally, evaluate the prototype’s operating performance by analyzing the recorded experimental data. The prototype system’s operating cost is computed to evaluate its economy. In order to achieve production requirements, the environmental tests and part of EMC tests are done to the self-designed inverter controller through a third party testing organization. The prototype works well. The experimental results demonstrate the design’s rationality.
