With the rapid development of technology and economy, the automobile holdings of each country is increasing year by year, and the automobile has become indispensable in people’s daily life and work of transportation. Because of the development of the engine of the modern automobile towards the direction of miniaturization and high-power, the pressure and temperature of the exhaust gas from the exhaust stroke of the engine also increase accordingly, and putting forward the more highly requirements on the sealing property of automobile exhaust manifold. If the sealing part of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head occurs leakage, it will reduce the pressure of the exhaust gas, and then reduce the intake pressure and the output power of the engine, and finally to affect the working condition of the engine and reduce the useful life of the engine.At present, CAD/CAE technology not only can shorten the period of exploiting the production, reduce the cost but also is the embodiment of the design level of the enterprise and the applied level of the method of modern science and technology. In this paper, it mainly adopts the reverse engineering technology to establish the simulation models, which include the key technology of collection of point cloud data, pretreatment of point cloud data, surface reconstruction of CAD model and error detection of surfaces etc. Then the models are imported in the finite element analysis software to simulate the exhaust process of the engine. And this paper analyzed the simulation result, modified the model, which effectively combined CAD technology and CAE technology.In this paper, it based on the two different types of the exhaust manifold. Firstly, it expounded the development of the exhaust manifold and the sealing gasket of the automobile. Secondly, it used Pro/E software to establish the model of the exhaust manifold sealing gasket and used the reverse engineering technology to establish the model of the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold. The modal analysis was carried on the system of the exhaust manifold to obtain the natural frequency of this system, and compared with the output power of the engine, and then judged that there was no resonance between the two. It is proved that the factor does not affect the sealing property of the exhaust manifold. And the modal analysis prepares for the part design and other type of dynamics analysis. The simulation system of thermal- structure coupling analysis of the working conditions was carried out by using ANSYS Workbench software, and summarized the influence factors of the sealing property of the exhaust manifold according to the distribution of the contact pressure and deformation of the exhaust manifold gasket and deformation of the sealing surface of the exhaust manifold. Finally, added the stiffeners on the exhaust manifold according to the influence factors of the sealing property, to reduce the deformation of the sealing surface of the exhaust manifold, and then reduced the deformation of the exhaust manifold sealing gasket, and the range of the contact pressure of the sealing reduced to 10 Mpa, improved the sealing property of the exhaust manifold.In this paper, it used the method of the science and technology to improve the sealing property of the system of the exhaust manifold, and then increased the work efficiency, the output power and the emission property of the engine, and increased the competitiveness of the company in the market.
