The basalt fiber is a type of newly-developed natural composite material used for reinforcement, which can make up the deficiencies themselves and enhance the mechanical properties of concrete with it. Also, many mechanical properties has displayed and the basalt fiber can be widely used and researched. This paper investigates the basic mechanical properties of impregnated short basalt fiber reinforced concrete(BFRC) and analyses the underlying mechanisms through experiments. The details are as follows:(1)The experimental researches on compressive strength, the resistance to splitting tensile strength and flexural of impregnated short BFRC have been done to show that impregnated short BFRC has little effect on concrete compressive strength but improves the resistance to splitting tensile strength and flexural significantly. The latter both strength are increasing to reach the different peak values as the volume fraction of CBF increases.(2)The experimental research on anti-permeability of impregnated short BFRC have been done to show that CBF has obvious effect on its anti-permeability: the anti-permeability strength is increasing as more basalt fibers are mixed in. And the anti-permeability level can reach P8 when the volume fraction of fiber achieves 0.3%.(3)The experimental researches on resistance properties to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid of impregnated short BFRC have been done to show that the corrosion level to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid increases as the volume fraction of CBF increases. As the same time, concrete strength change is getting smaller and smaller.(4)The experimental researches on the resistance to freeze-thaw property of impregnated short BFRC show that fiber can improve the resistance to free-thaw significantly, which can add to cycle times to resistance to free-thaw.(5)The experimental researches on the impact resistance of impregnated short BFRC show that the mode of failure changes from brittle fracture to ductile fracture after adding fiber to concrete.(6)The study on the mechanism of shock resistance in the respect of strength and toughness of impregnated short BFRC shows that the mixed fiber can improve the shock resistance of concrete through the two energy-consumption ways, drawing work and rupture work.In summary, this paper researches the mechanical properties and resistances of impregnated short BFRC through experiments and mechanism study. The research results can provide useful information and references for this newly-developed composite construction material and its industrial applications.
