| In the development of western modern art various art genres have emerged since 1960s’, and minimalism as one of the most important art genres having profound implication on social consciousness, artistic ideas, design practice is inevitable to impact on landscape design. Since1980s’, Minimalist Landscape Design (MLD for short) as trendsetter, with the characteristics of simple form, fine structure, infinite charm starts a trend in pursuit of minimalist design under the look of architectural design.At present, there is a convergence in world design. How improve the trend of convergence in modern landscape, how integrate into the world and carry on historical culture to find the common supporter between the world languages and ethnic characteristics is the necessary outlet to Chinese landscape design. The thesis analyses the relationship among minimalism, art, design and its development in landscape design through the analysis of traditional culture and the successful cases, trying to find its conjunction with Chinese culture and completing the promotion and output of Chinese culture in modern language with cultural carrier of minimalist landscape to improve the national soft strength, which has the epoch-making significance for the development of Chinese landscape design.A comprehensive analysis minimalist theory and its development and performance in the field of art and design by literature research, case analysis, investigative report to sort the context of MLD in the thesis that begins with the classic cases of contemporary MLD, explains minimalist works of landscape designer from diverse cultures and sums up the methods and characteristics of MLD.In order to fuse the minimalism thought with Chinese landscape culture, the thesis has listed the immaterial elements of Chinese traditional culture correspondent with minimalism, from "Describing objects as they are" of Chinese ink paintings to "Never confined to regular rule is style" of Song Dynasty aesthetic; from "Effortless and spontaneous state" of traditional Taoist thought to "Negative space" of ink painting, analyzed the MLD works mixed Chinese culture in China, concluded the corresponding point of minimalism and Chinese culture, summed up three directions of minimalist landscape in Chinese taste.1. Using the simplex form, geometric repetition, new technology and materials and an application of wind, light, cloud, fog to learn experience and technology of classic minimalist landscape.2. Collecting minimalist performance of traditional culture like Chinese monochromes, porcelain of Song Dynasty and the Guqin and the common pursuit of minimalist in Taoism thought, Negative space skill, geomantic omen etc. to create Chinese style minimalist landscape by refining Chinese characters, decoration and other traditional elements, transferring the specifics essence like eaves, window frame, selecting tile, bamboo, wood, ceramics and other traditional materials and regional color and other gardening elements.3. Don’t abandon traditional gardening essence and methods, borrowing" a pool with three mountains", "contrast and flatter", "borrowing by frame" and other traditional gardening methods to fuse Chinese traditional aesthetic with the feelings of gardening. |
