The axial piston pump is widely used in industrial machinery and other fields because of its high power density. The speed and pressure of volumetric hydraulic transmission become higher and higher, which demands higher requirement of the piston pump. Axial piston pump has always been a hot research field of scholars. As one of the three vice-friction of axial piston pump, the operating characteristics of slipper pair is one of the main factor that determines the life and efficiency of the entire pump.Compared with the other friction pairs of axial piston pump the movement of slipper pair is the most complex one, which means the sensors cables may twine easily. First the slipper rotates against the work surface of the swash plate with the elliptical trajectory. Second the slipper moves back and forth with the plunger in the cylinder. At last it also rotates around its own axis as. The structure of the axial piston pump is always designed compact for improving the power density, which means the space for installing sensors. Due to these two difficulties, most of the test equipment for slipper pair has limitations for the convenience of getting tested parameters. Firstly, part of the test equipment can only measure one feature of the oil film of slipper pair, which can’t fully reflect the oil film properties of slipper pair. Secondly, in part of the test benches the swash plate rotates, which is opposite to the actual movement of the axial piston pump; At last, in some test experiment the spin motion of the slipper is limited. So these benches can’t truly and fully reflect the dynamics state of the slipper leading to that the test results is not accurate. In view of this, in this paper we overcomes the above drawbacks and propose new test methods for measuring the oil film thickness and stress and measuring the speed of the slipper spin, at the same time we designed a test rig. The test rig can provides experimental verification for the design and optimization of the slipper structure.This paper includes six chapters and the summary of each chapter is as follows:In chapter 1, the axial piston pump and its key friction pairs are summarized and the important role of slipper pair and the oil film properties for pump are analyzed; Research status at home and abroad for testing methods of slipper pair oil film properties are described. Then the content and significance of this paper are proposed.In chapter 2, the oil film thickness and pressure of slipper pair are analyzed deeply, and the reason of the slipper spin and its impact on the performance of the piston has been analyzed. The testing methods for investigating the oil film pressure, thickness and spin speed have been proposed. The available sensors for these methods have been selected, and the installations of the sensors were analyzed and designed.In chapter 3, the model pump used for investing the oil film thickness, pressure and spins peed was given out. A new transmission mechanism for power transmission between two shafts with variable angle is proposed and analyzed.In chapter 4, the hydraulic principle of the properties of slipper pair parameters test rig was given out, a simulation model for verifying the hydraulic principle was established through AMESim. According to the testing requirements, the hardware of the measurement and control system was selected, and data acquisition and control procedure interface were given out based on the Lab VIEW software and debugged successfully.In chapter 5, the installation and commissioning of pumps and slipper pair parameters test rig, were described. The test rig was verified through investigating the slipper pair oil film thickness, pressure and slipper spin speed of a certain high-speed and high-pressure axial piston pump.In chapter 6, the summary of the whole work and the prospect in the future are proposed.
