In the operation of power transformer, Because of the flow current of the transformer winding and the existence of induction electromagnetic field, power transformer will produce power loss in the internal, mainly includes load loss and no-load loss. also a small part of the stray loss. These power loss will be converted into heat energy,the heat spread to the around medium in the form of conduction, convection and radiation, raise the temperature of each part of the transformer. If the transformer operations in high temperature condition, it will lead to lower insulation performance of the insulating medium, also may cause transformer faults and affect the normal operation of the power grid. To ensure the transformer operations in certain temperature range,therefore need to install additional cooling device to speed up the transformer heat dissipation. When operating transformer investment the cooling device,the winding temperature will be low, considering the transformer power loss and winding temperature has certain relations, when the winding’s temperature drops, transformer power losses, But at the same time the cooling device itself also has a energy loss.To realize the economic operation of the transformer, and ensure the temperature of transformer operation within the specified range, considering inner relationship between transformer power loss and cooling device power loss, derivation the transformer load loss in different temperature, puts forward cooling device intelligent control strategy, and this paper made the following job:1.Research the temperature characteristic of transformer winding dc resistance, analysis the power loss of transformer in its process of operation, also according to the winding temperature characteristics, derivation the relationship between the load loss of transformer and the temperature of windings.2.Through to the analysis of the temperature transformer limit requirements, understand the process of transformer cooling as well as the cooling mode, research the inner relationship between the investment cooling power of transformer and the lower power loss of transformer, then put forward the transformer cooling device control strategy.3. Referencing the past deficiencies of the cooling control system, according to the relative standard of transformer cooling control, put forward the design idea of the whole system, and analysis the intelligent control of the cooling device, design intelligent control system of transformer cooling device. And put it into operation in intelligent substation, through analysis the operation data of the control system, verify the feasibility of this design.In this paper the design intelligent control system of transformer cooling device, functions well, saving remarkable energy in practice. Not only ensure the transformer operation in any load and the external environment temperature, its comprehensive power loss at the minimum level, but for the different structure of the transformer, different parameters of the load and the no-load loss, different the requirements of temperature and different cooling device configuration, make their own data setting, realize the safe and economic operation of the transformer finally.
