Waterfront Landscape Design Under The Regional Cultural Background

With the further development of globalization, the spread of information worldwide has grown to a surprising speed. New things are to be produced in every moment, which caused lots of traditions going further away from people’s attention. European and American culture impacts on various fields in China, which from Film and TV to fashion industry, even architecture. People’s higher requirements on living environment result to the blindly copying of European style in architecture, and the destruction of regional culture environment across the country. The design of urban waterfront landscape should be based on the purpose of respecting the local culture, improving the environment, protecting the scenic ecosystem, while strengthening the scenic land using, so as to promote characteristics of urban cultural, show the cultural connotation of the city.Waterfront is a core area in urban development, and a combination area of natural and man-made landscape with abudant natural resources. However, Designs of China’s waterfront landscape currently are often stereotyped,lacking of focusing on the local characteristics, urban context and sustainable development. This article is talking about the theme of design applications of waterfront landscape. Firstly, summarizing the current situation and problems of waterfront landscape design through the research of the landscape cases and relevant theories at home and abroad, illustrating the key role of waterfront landscape’s design in urban construction. Secondly, analyzing the present situation and culture connotation of landscape in Linyi city, refining regional culture elements, and discussing planning principles and design methods of the application of regional culture in the modern city landscape. Finally, summarizing the means of regional culture and local characteristics in the construction of urban waterfront landscape,to provide some experience and reference for the future.We hope providing theoretical supports for the regional culture in waterfront landscape design through the research. Making the design of urban landscape back to the local culture, and establishing sustainable ecological environment between the human and the nature.
