With the development of our country’s economy, the rapid construction of highway and the increasing number of highway slope, the threat to the safety of pedestrians and the traffic becomes more and more serious. The terrain landform is complex in Liaoning province, the main landform types are mountainous, hilly and plain, and there is wide area of mountainous, and highway geological disasters occurred frequently. At present, the highway management department for highway slope risk assessment has not formed a complete system and norms. The database of highway side slope of southeastern Liaoning province on the basis of GIS was established based on the analysis of the field investigation and indoor data of the highway slope diseases, and the corresponding risk assessment was carried out which is important to prevent and cure the disease of highway slope in this area.This paper takes the ordinary road cutting slopes in southeastern Liaoning Province as the research object. Results are followings through the field investigation and indoor data analysis of the highway slope diseases,(1) The disease of highway side slopes in the southeast of Liaoning province is serious, which impact on highway traffic frequently. The results are based on the comprehensive function of topographic features, rainfall conditions, rock and soil properties, geological structure, vegetation distribution, human engineering economic activities and so on.(2) The main types of highway slope diseases are collapse, landslide, landslide, slope erosion. Collapse is the most basic form and the largest number of disasters, and a slope may have different disease types at the same time.The highway slope disease database of southeastern Liaoning province(Benxi City, Dandong city) was established based on the MAPGIS software and Microsoft ACCESS software, and the risk assessment of highway slope in the study area were finished,getting the following results:(1) The highway slope disease database in the study area was established and the browsing, query and management of the highway slope disease data was actualized.(2) this paper selects the highway slope risk factors from the geological environment, dynamic failure, historical status based on highway slope diseases database data. The contestant the weight values of indexes are gave through the method of multi-level analysis, comparative analysis is conducted based on fuzzy matter element theory of Euclid approach degree and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method in highway slope risk evaluation application. Results show that fuzzy matter element theory based on Euclid approach degree can be applied to highway slope risk evaluation, which can not only divide risk grade of highway slope, but also can sort the risk of slope based on the value of closeness degree, so that this method can compare the risk of highway slope in the same grade.(3) the risk assessment of 275 section of highway slope in southeastern Liaoning province were conducted based on the spatial database of highway slope diseases using fuzzy matter element theory. The risk of highway side slope is divided into four grades: low risk, moderate risk, high risk and extreme danger. The risk assessment map of highway slope of southeastern Liaoning province is drawn on the MAPGIS platform, which provides a scientific basis for the treatment of these diseases.
