Application Research Of The Greenway Theory In The Planning And Design Of Residential District In Beijing

In recent two years, Beijing has commenced the building of municipal greenway network system, which can facilitate district-and community-level greenway construction, help to solve urban traffic problems and improve urban eco-environment. Community greenway, which is most closely associated with residents’life, can provide convenience for people’s life by maximizing its social effects and ecological benefits. Thus, community greenway is also the focus of greenway construction and development.This paper emphatically studies the application of greenway in Beijing’s residential area planning, with community greenways in residential areas taken as the object. Based on interpreting greenway-related concepts in details, this paper analyzes the building characteristics and planning strategies of greenways in residential area planning according to the survey on the practical greenway cases in residential areas at home and abroad. The key content of this paper makes a survey and analysis on the actual conditions of Beijing’s residential areas, as well as summarizes the characteristics and problems of residential area planning in Beijing. The major research object is greenway construction in existing communities. Combined with residential area planning ideas, this paper brings forth corresponding greenway planning and design strategies from three aspects, including traffic optimization, green land reconstruction, and leisure system design:(1) in respect of traffic optimization, this paper suggests improving the connectivity and spatial expansibility of greenways and building a comprehensive and systematic greenway network to heighten the use efficiency of the slow traffic system; (2) in terms of green land improvement, this paper, which highlights the reconstruction of the green land in the block-based residential area, proposes dividing high-density small-grid road networks with greenways and building the internally and externally interconnected greenway system; meanwhile, greenways should be combined with business to build street space and revitalize blocks to improve the use efficiency of green land in residential area as well as urban traffic environment; (3) as regards leisure system building, this paper advises building internally and externally interconnected communicative and leisure space based on suitable spatial layouts and compositions to improve outdoor activity space and leisure life in human settlement. Finally, this paper tries the case of Enjili Community in Beijing to explore the applicability and feasibility of greenway design in Beijing’s residential area planning.This paper performs a comparative analysis on actual cases at home and abroad, and presents constrictive suggestions for not only the greenway design in residential area planning but also the large greenway network system to be built in Beijing. It is hoped that more attention will be paid to the application of greenway design in Beijing’s residential area planning.
