Ship Automatic Identification System (AIS) is made up of ship station and shore station. AIS shore station is a digital bridge among ships, shipping route, environment and relevant personnel for information effectively exchanging. With the popularization and application of AIS ship station, AIS shore station plays a more and more important role and becomes the important national resource to get shipping information in real time. However, the current coastal AIS shore station all depends on imported station, which is the threat of nation information security. Therefore, AIS shore station is researched and developed according to the international standard-IEC62320 in this paper. Standard designs of AIS shore station and control software are achieved in this research with communication and control functions between shore station and embedded system platform.Main contents are consisted of two aspects in this paper. The first content is design of AIS shore station based on ARM. The other is software design of control and display platform based on ARM embedded system. AIS shore station is composed of seven modules:device driver module, synchronization module, time slot management module, information management module, algorithm module for time slot access, message transmitter module and receiver module. Configure messages from control platform or navigation satellites are received by shore station through serial ports. After those messages are decoded, stored and identified in the information management module, useful data is sent to the other modules. In the synchronization module, GPS data is used to adjust shore station time. In the time slot management module, the messages related to time slot are used to update time slot table. According to the assigned pattern, message transmitter module sends data link messages. If shore station does not receive the configuration information, it can send message 4 or message 20 autonomously. Message receiver module receives data from antennas, which is also used in the other modules. Simultaneously, VDM/O and VSI messages are packed and sent to control platform. Control and display platform achieves information display and configuration of shore station. Human-computer interaction interface can show ship dynamic information and shore station information. In addition, the platform can arrange time slot for shore station. The software is designed based on Qt language in the Ubuntu system, and the functions are tested by building a set of ARM hardware platform.The content of this paper is a part of the key project of National Science Foundation of China-"New theory and key technology of ship wireless autonomous orientation method based on AIS" (NO.61231006).
