Research Of Urban Road Landscape Evaluation Based On AHP

The relationship between the road landscape and a city is similar to the blood and body. As people’s health can be manifested from the blood,the environment and civilization of a city may also be shown from its city road landscape. It is known that the city road landscape has great effect on the ecological environment,the beautification.and the humanity of a city’ development and construction. Specifically,a good road landscape can not only help construct passages to connect the important nodes distributed in all over the city,but also benefit citizens by providing a safe and pleasant environment atmosphere. Therefore,the road landscape is often considered with great importance for life in cities. This thesis,which was based on the trialistic theory of road landscape,the visual characteristic of city pedestrians and human’s behavior rules as the theoretical bases,investigated the three typical streets in Chengdu(i.e. Second Section of First ring road,YiduAvenu and Well Alley). With an analytical hierarchy process(AHP) based fuzzy comprehensive evaluation,this thesis first tried to analyze the basic elements of Chengdu’s road landscape construction,and then provided a variety of index of road landscape evaluation,which was based on the verification of a case study of the above three streets. Finally,some countermeasures were discussed on perfecting Chengdu’s road landscape.The current roads in the central area of Chengdu seem like a partial gridiron road system,a ring radial picture mixing up by shapes of corss(e.g. Yidu Avenue,Checheng Avenue),criss cross(e.g. alleys) and circle(i.e. First/Second/Third ring road) is included. Through an AHP-based fuzzy comprehensive evaluation on the three typical streets,we get their landscape ranks respectively are good to genaeral, good to excellent and general to good. This thesis proves the scientificity and feasibility of the research methods and analyzed main problems in Chengdu’s road landscape,which was followed by some suggestions on the development of Chengdu’s road landscape as well as some principles for the design of the city road.
