For the present, the global energy system is threatened by growing crisis. Thus, utilizing the new energy and renewable energy resources in the energy-consuming building field is of significance.Actively utilizing the solar chimney effect in buildings is to integrate the buildings with solar chimney. Solar chimney effect will generate electricity directly in buildings, so it is a new way to utilize renewable resources in buildings. At present, the researches on active-application solar energy chimney effect are still at the initial stage, and the research results mainly concentrate on the field of technology, aiming at improving the efficiency of the solar chimney electricity generation system with different forms in buildings. Yet few researches have paid attention to such problems as the integration of building space and the solar chimney electricity generation system, the effect of the solar chimney electricity generation system on the building’s exterior shape and interior space and so on.From the perspective of construction design, the thesis probes into the active adoption of solar chimney effect in the construction and then puts forward a design strategy to integrate the construction and the solar chimney electricity generation system in the hope of providing references for the construction designers and technicians.The thesis is mainly divided into seven chapters.Chapter one introduces the research background, differentiates some related concepts so as to define the research object, illustrates the value of the research and expounds research approaches of the thesis.Chapter two presents the related theories and the current development of practice, introduces the utilization of solar energy and wind energy in the construction, solar chimney effect electricity generation and the active and passive utilizations of solar chimney effect in the construction and elaborates the developmental course, the existing results and research trends of the above three. Besides, in this chapter some typical active-application cases are chosen for analysis.Chapter three makes an in-depth study on the basic theories of solar chimney effect electricity generation, expounds the basic forms and composition of solar energy chimney effect electricity generation and the factors influencing generated power, and introduces the barriers that solar chimney effect electricity generation encounters for the moment and its potential of comprehensive utilization. The chapter lays a theoretical basis for the research on active-application solar chimney effect in the construction.Chapter four and Chapter five explores the design strategies of active-utilization solar chimney effect in buildings:Chapter four discusses the possibility of integrating solar chimney and construction space and analyzes and compares different integration forms;Chapter five analysis the precondition of active active-utilization initially and then proposes the integration design strategies from such perspectives as space integration, efficiency optimization, technology and safety.Chapter six takes the project that the author participated in —— Rudong waterfront club design-for instance, and based on the integration form and key points of design of solar chimney and building as mentioned above, chapter six proposes a concrete design scheme of buildings actively utilizing solar chimney effect.Chapter seven is the conclusion part in which the main arguments of this thesis are summarized and the shortcomings still existed in the research are analyzed. Besides, expectations on further researches are also made.
