There are many brick-masonry structure buildings in rural area of our country, these buildings all constructed in early years, most before 1980’s and some even more than 100 years. Buildings in rural didn’t be designed normally, the construction was also ad libitum, it can meet people’s daily needs under the environment without the earthquake and typhoon in using period. Once it suffer the intermediate or rare earthquake actions, brick-masonry structure buildings’ behavior can’t be satisfactory, it can be seen from the rare earthquake recent years. So, study on seismic reinforcement of brick-masonry structure buildings is signality.We can find from all previous rare earthquake that what really made casualties and property loss isn’t the shear failure in-plane of load-bearing wall, but the out-plane collapse of the wall. Once the wall collapsed, the slab which supported by the wall would be falled down as lack of powerful supports, then hurt the people and increase the rescue difficulties. Therefore, this article is focused on prevent-collaps reinforcement of brick-masonry structures in subtropical rural area. The contents as follows:(1) Using software ABAQUS to analyse the collapse mechanism of single wall(solid wall, no windows or doors). Firstly clear the material properties of brick-masonry in ABAQUS, then build four walls to simulate vertical loads and horizontal earthquake action of different layers buildings. As the standard the crack depth in half height reach the half thickness, at this time, the displacement of half heitht of the wall can be the limit value after reinforcement, this displacement can use to judge whether reinforcement scheme is workable.(2) Using software SAP2000 to analyse the mechanical properties of anti collapse steel net, control variables of the spacing of vertical steel strips, thickness of vertical steel strips, spacing of horizontal steel strips, thickness of horizontal steel strips and steel grade, respectively discuss the effect of reinforcement by these factors. After comprehensively comparison and trial times, obtain the anti collapse reinforcement steel net of load-bearing wall of 3 floors, 4 floors and 5 floors buildings in 7 degree, 0.01 g acceleration.(3) Put forward the suitable connection between brick-masonry and steel, the connection needs structural adhesive and bolts. The structural adhesive could be the epoxy resin modified by The organic montmorillonite, the bolts could be the A class or B class plain bolts which has a big diameter, the spacing of bolts can reference the table 8.3.4 in the Code for design of steel structures(GB50017-2003).The achievements of this article has good praticalbility, it can be spread in Guangzhou and surrounding area firstly, if the effect is satisfied, it also can be spread to earthquake-prone places in other subtropic area.
