Outdoor sport event as sprint and long jump, are sensitive to the wind condition on the field. For example, the speed of wind must be controlled under 2m/s for 200 m sprint race according to rules, which is sometimes hard to reach in a poorly situated and designed stadium. However, the wind behavior in stadium is closely related to the design of stadium.Many research datas on Stadium’s wind environment are focused on the canopy influence, and rarely mention the quality of environment wind on the field. In this paper, research is focused on how the configuration of a stadium influences the wind environment on its field area by means of CFD simulation, according to the issues raised, the problem analysed, problem solved and research issues in four steps.First, after determining the research problem is the stadium field’s wind environment, a simulation platform was chosen, and its validation test done with a real stadium case(Harbin International Exhibition and Sports Center Stadium); as a simulation object, make the establishment of a 3D model for platform validation experiments; the simulation results on its modal was compared with on site data to determine the degree of sensitivity and associated platform, in order to ensure reliability of the experiment results. Based on existing research literatures about wind behavior in built environment, we sorted out some major possible variables of a stadium design which may influence wind environment. Including surrounding wind environment where stadium situated, the form of canopy, the siting arrangement, and level deferences of field area with surrounding ground. CFD simulations were performed for those factors, get w ind contours, comparing wind speed, and wind environments such as distribution uniformity by results, get the quality of the proposed optimal circumstances of each influencing factors. Finally, the results obtained from simulation experimental analysis was used to put out some comprehensive optimization strategy in stadium design for problems as excessive wind speed.This paper uses a large number of 3D models of CFD simulations as basement,and using comparison, analysis, summary and other methods as assistd, getting erived factors on the stadium field’wind environment and identified a set of clear and workable strategy to optimize the design for the special problems proposed a comprehensive program of targeted, which can be used as the design basement for future stadium construction and the transformation to prevent from terrible wind.
