Survivability of reconnaissance systems becomes more critical with ever-increasing operational ranges of surface to air missiles and the need to operate in high-threat environments. There are four main types of reconnaissance missions: Penetrating Over-flight, Penetrating Side Oblique Depression Angle, Long Range Oblique Photography(LOROP) and Satellite Missions. The LOROP type mission photographs areas that are located to the side of the aircraft at remote distances, thus providing secured standoff flights. The capability to interleave wide area search, spot collection, and target tracking/stereo modes allows rapid, efficient imaging of widely dispersed targets to minimize flight time and maximize crew safety. This is the reason why the LOROP has become a preferred technique for reconnaissance in recent years. The purpose of this paper is to describe a project about scanning & motion compensation of a modern(LOROP) system.This paper mainly includes the following aspects:Firstly, this paper classifies the common methods of scanning imaging in the remote camera, introduces the working principle、pros and cons and application situation of every scanning imaging method. Introduce the most commonly used methods of image stabilization and image motion compensation in detail, including the working principle of every methods, combining with practice,a nalyze the need of image stabilization and image motion compensation accuracy.Secondly, this paper deduces the calculation formula of forward image motion 、pitching image motion、yaw image motion and rolling image motion in the inclined imaging state, deduces the calculation formula among the image motion speed 、flying height、squint angle of depression and platform disturbance velocity,provide the design foundation of image motion compensation..Thirdly, this paper raises a design method of image stabilization and image motion compensation, combining with the program of the overall sector, illustrates the design of scanning imaging stabilization mechanism, decomposes the working parameter of scanning imaging stabilization mechanism, and introduces the design of scanning controlling circuit.Lastly, this paper builds the simulation model of scanning controlling loop, do the preliminary analysis and simulation of scanning imaging stabilization mechanism. According to the simulation results, this scanning imaging stabilization mechanism can implement the function of scanning image stabilization, satisfies the index of scanning imaging stabilization technology.
