Abstract/Summary:
In Urban transportation network, the equilibrium traffic assignment problem is a basic and important issue. This paper mainly discusses the influence of vehicle type-based speed limit on traffic reallocation and the total system travel time of system.Chapter 1 provides a brief introduction to the background, importance and literature review on the concerned problem. This chapter also introduces some fundamentals of supply and demand balance in the urban transportation network.Meanwhile, equilibrium traffic assignment problems with its the mathematical programming models are summarized.In chapter 2, on the basis of the latest research findings, the travel time function under the condition of different vehicle type speed limits is given. Then, the corresponding equilibrium traffic assignment model under the condition of different vehicle type speed limits is proposed.In chapter 3, the equivalence between the solution of the proposed model and equilibrium condition is proved by KKT condition. The solution uniqueness of the proposed model is also proved.In chapter 4, following the results in chapters 2 and 3, the optimization model for determination of vehicle type speed limit scheme is proposed. Such model can further be used to search the optimal link set for speed limit. Numerical example is also conducted on other transportation networks to show the application of the proposed model.
