In this paper, the research situation of magnetic refrigeration at room temperature through the world was studied seriously. And the research situation of magnetic refrigerator at room temperature was investigated more seriously. Based on the recent works in Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths, we developed a type of magnetic refrigerator with magnetic system of two rotating magnets. We tested the refrigerator and studied the factors that could influence the performance of the magnetic refrigerator. In this paper, a simple method that could evaluate the refrigeration ability of magnetic refrigeration materials at room temperature was discussed simply.The working background of the work in is paper is several types of reciprocating magnetic refrigerators and rotating refrigerators developed by Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths. The reciprocating magnetic refrigerator could not get a high frequency because of its theory. And the heat exchange system of rotating refrigerator is so complicate, even through it has high frequency. To avoid such disadvantages, the magnetic system with steady magnetic field is instead of a magnetic system with variety magnetic field caused by relative anger of its two magnets.The work is followed the flow of concept design, function design, part design, assemblage and test. We use Pro E software. We establish a control and data collecting with touch screen and PLC. The refrigerator has a largest temperature span of 19.8℃ and largest power of 24 W without any load. And it still has a temperature span of 18.6℃ with a load of 4L working space.The refrigerator is also a platform for testing the performance of La Fe Co Si compounds. We tested the temperature span and refrigeration power of La Fe10.98Co0.92Si1.10B0.2 with the shape of sphere particles and irregular particles. We also tested the temperature span and refrigeration power of La Fe11.05Co0.85Si1.10B0.2 and La Fe10.98Co0.92Si1.10B0.2 sphere particles serials connected in the cooling bed. The result shows that the serials connected materials can improve the cooling temperature span, but can not improve the cooling power.
