Since it was built in 451 BC, Han Zhong City has experienced two times rel ocations and three times constructions. It has gradually formed the city’s historic al pattern, which not only is in conformity with the idea of tradition etiquette th at was recorded in ZhouLi Artificers’ Record but also reflects the city character of HanZhong.Since the founding of New China, there is a rapid development in HanZhon g. However, lots of historical monuments were suffered irreparably damage becau se of the lack of protection awareness. In the meanwhile, as the acceleration of modernization construction, the regional characteristics are fading away and are more and more hard to be recognized. Therefore, it is important to protect the HanZhong city’s historical pattern, which calls for a renewed awareness and appr eciation of it. This thesis studies and proposes creating a system of HanZhong ci ty historical pattern’s identifications, which is based on the study of cultural heri tage protection and followed international standard of cultural heritage protection-- the reality and integrality rules. As the main content and approach of protecti ng the noted and cultural HanZhong city, this system is able to make the fragm ented and unrecognized historical pattern to be much clearer and more complete.Firstly, this thesis opens with a literature review about the theories in this fi eld, defining the concept of “city’s historical pattern” and “system of historic al pattern’s identifications”. Based on this, it studies the history of Han Zhong, c lears the development of city’s historical development in very period, summarizes the elements of patterns and finally formed the framework of system of historic al pattern’s identifications.
