With the continuous development of the economy and society of our country, transmission cables are widely used in urban power grid, and the traditional planned maintenance has not fully meet the requirements of modern power system with high reliability. Condition Based Maintenance(CBM) which based on condition monitoring(usually on-line monitoring) and fault diagnosis is developing rapidly. CBM is based on the Condition of the equipment and condition evaluation is based on the testing or monitoring characteristic parameters of equipment. Then the condition of equipment is evaluated according to a certain rules. Multi-layer state evaluation index system was established according to the element division of the cable line. And then the state evaluation method of transmission cable was researched.To evaluate the operation status of transmission cable need to be based on longitudinal and transverse state information such as the preventive test, diagnostic test, running environment,historical data and maintenance records,using a variety of analysis methods. An assessment method of operation state of transmission cable based on fuzzy analytical hierarchy process(FAHP) was studied in this paper. A multi-level index system of cable state was established. Evaluation indexes to be classified into quantitative indicators, descriptive indicators and qualitative indicators, and the latter two kinds of indicators are difficult to be quantified. The fuzzy membership functions were introduced in the index of quantitative assessment. The degree of membership of the evaluation index was got by using the fuzzy distribution method and fuzzy membership degree test statistics; the state matrix of different parts of cable was constructed. Weight vector of the evaluation factors was obtained by ranking the weight of evaluation index. Proper fuzzy operator was selected by using the theory of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The operation was run between unit state matrix and the fuzzy operator, which can get state membership degree of each cable unit. Further application of fuzzy comprehensive operation can get the evaluation results of the whole cable system.Pan Qing 220 kV cable line that belong to Guangzhou power supply bureau was taken as an example, to evaluate the running state of the cable, the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed transmission cable state evaluation model are verified in this paper. The evaluation results can accurately reflect the current running state of cable lines, it can provide reliable guidance and basis for the cable repair and maintenance.The software about transmission cable state evaluation is developed based on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method of transmission cable.
