With the competition become more and more intense, it requires thecommutator must comply with threeprinciples "shortable,fast,stable",namely shortable development cycle,fast production, stable performance. But the tradition design difficult to satisfy the need of market, soit need the CAE to aid design. Breakout of the commutator segments is a big difficult of the design,there is no study of this aspect in our country. This paper adapts finite element method, calculates and analyzes the stress and displacementof the breakout of the automobilecommutator.Firstly, the material parameters for the modeling of commutator are obtained from the tensile test and thermal expansion experiments. The material properties of the commutator is defined for finite element analysis.Secondly, discussing grid properties and boundary conditions of the finite element model, considering solving accuracy and efficiency.Thecommutator model rotating in high speed at high temperature,and the load is close to the actual.And here describes the analysis methods of thecalculateionresults.After that, calculating and analyzing the stress and displacement of the Auto motor commutator segment, based on Finite element analysis(FEA) method.And analyzing the problem about the segment breakdown.Verifying the accuracy of FEA model by commutator spin test.Finally, this paper form material and construct twoaspects optimize the commutator, through simulation analyze the optimized commutator, using theory to verify the optimization scheme feasibility. Thispaper use the speeding test for the optimized commutator, the simulation analysis compares the conclusion and the experimental phenomenon, found a high consistency. On the one hand, to illustrate the effectiveness of the optimization method, on the other hand again verified in this paper, on the commutator performance design of finite element simulation method has a high reliability.
