Centrifugal pumps are the common fluid mechanical equipment which are widely used in petrochemical, water recycling and processing, oil and gas storage and transportation,power generation, construction and other industries. This paper is mainly about the research of multi-operating condition performance and experimental validation of centrifugal pump. In order to carry out the research work in this subject, the project partners Guangdong Foshan Pump Factory Co. Ltd., offers the centrifugal drawing data of model KCP 80×50-315,technical information and experimental platform. This research is mainly used numerical simulation method and experimental validation method and eventually got within the whole internal flow field distribution of multi-operating condition of the centrifugal, external performance characteristics and axial force curve, and has got the test validation.First, this paper introduces the application of a centrifugal pump in oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, CFD computing technology and its related software,summarizes the history of research and development and research status of centrifugal pumps at home and abroad, sums up the centrifugal pump computational model based on the loss of performance characteristics. Secondly, a three-dimensional whole flow field model of centrifugal pump fluid domain is modeled and assembled by using the three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E., structured/unstructured grid of the computational domains are meshed by using ICEM software and separated regions method, a three-dimensional numerical simulation of multi-operating condition of whole flow field of the centrifugal pump are achieved by using CFX software, and the sealing ring leakage-flow rate and axial force-flow rate numerical simulation prediction curve and empirical formula calculation values are obtained, the prediction performance curve of the centrifugal pump are also obtained. The result shows that head-flow rate curve of the pump exists hump phenomenon and the high efficiency area shifts to the large flow point. The distribution characteristics of pressure field, velocity field and vector field and flow line of the centrifugal axial plane,intermediate plane, impeller, volute, sealing ring gap and balance hole are analyzed and the flow separation phenomenon of the impeller passage and the blockage phenomenon of the impeller outlet are presented. Then this paper provides purposeful reference andimprovements for the pump design optimization. In addition, there are also shows the difference of pressure distribution and difference of axial force between the case of impeller with balance hole and non-balance hole, and obtains that balance hole can reduced about 80%of the axial force. Then, the centrifugal pump experimental validations that the external characteristics performance tests and axial force strength test are completed with the help of factory partner. Through the data processing and the comparison and analysis of the numerical simulation results and testing results, the reliability and applicability of the calculation based on the CFX software of multi-operating condition performance of whole flow field of centrifugal pump are verified. Finally this paper summarizes the main results and conclusions of this research, and makes recommendations and prospects to the follow-up studies.
