Urban Waterfront carries the origin and development of many urban civilization, and it occupies an important position in the urban public space system. As a specific type of urban waterfront landscape, mountainous city riverside landscape shows a unique dynamic characteristics, which due to lack of response to also makes the current design strategy revealed many problems. Nowadays, the theoretical research on urban waterfront is rich and comprehensive with various angle, subject and content, but lack of research on specific design methods to guide about mountainous city riverside landscape. This research follows the process framework of “Research foundation——Object analysis——Design strategy exploration and empirical research——Conclusions summary”, by reading a lot of literature, investigation of domestic good practice case and In-depth research in the riverside area of Chongqing city as the representative of the mountain city riverside landscape, it can effectively enhance and improve the concentration of research system, with a strong practical guidance value. This part shall be set forth in chapter 1.This research begins with reading a lot of literature and fieldwork part of the domestic of good practice about urban waterfront, then sums up the difference between the development process of urban waterfront domestic and abroad. It also summarizes the basic properties of urban waterfront such as scoping, composition and classification, pervasive features, and it can learn from the experience in various types of urban waterfront through domestic and international outstanding practice case. This part shall be set forth in chapter 2.Then, this research deeply investigates and analysis the dynamic characteristics of the mountainous city riverside landscape, which includes four aspects: dynamic functions of public space, seasonal landscape dynamics, dynamic tour perspective and dynamic activity functions. Then it obtains the shortages and problems such as the lack of public space consideration in riverside construction, loss of seasonal Landscape, the monotonous and boring riverside activity owing to lacking response its dynamic characteristics, in the perspective of the dynamic characteristics towards the construction status of mountainous city riverside landscape construction. This part shall be set forth in chapter 3.After that, by summarizing and generalization of practical experience, this research determines the design response level and the specific content at all levels towards the dynamic characteristics of mountainous city riverside landscape. Then it exhaustively and effectively design responds towards the dynamic characteristics of mountainous city riverside landscape from the system level and the partial level, through two aspects of building two-way, three-dimensional dynamic response system and space design method which emphasizes the dynamic experience. This part shall be set forth in chapter 4.At last, this research demonstrates on mountain city riverside landscape design strategies from three aspects of the dynamic characteristics, building dynamic response system and dynamic response space design, through practical projects “The landscape design of Jin Haiwan Park in Chongqing”. This part shall be set forth in chapter 5.The research outcomes of this article include summarizing theoretical results and practical experience about urban waterfront landscape design, Generalizing the unique dynamic characteristics and current shortage of mountainous city riverside landscape and establishing mountain city riverside landscape design strategies. There is still Shortage in experience, universality and depth which can continue to improve. This part shall be set forth in chapter 6.
