In the homing guidance applications, the target state estimation delay, especially acceleration estimation delay, is the main factor influencing missile miss distance for highly maneuvering target interception. Under the current framework of maneuvering target state estimation, the rapidity and precision of state estimation are two incompatible contradictories. The tactical ballistic missile(TBM) represent a great challenge to the guidance and control community for the maneuver potential of the TBM is almost in the same order as the interceptor missile. The maneuver advantage of the interceptor over the TBM has been reduced. Therefore, a new approach for estimation and guidance is proposed in the paper for the way out of the interception precision of a maneuvering TBM.In this paper, firstly, the significance of highly maneuvering targets interception is analyzed from the view of military demands. The mathematical model and observation model of terminal guidance phase are presented for the analysis of the movement relationship between pursuer and evader. Meanwhile, the performance evaluation index and the use condition of CEP(Certainly Equivalence Principle) are pointed out. As a critical technology for highly maneuvering target interception, target acceleration estimation technology aims to reduce the estimation delay. Nevertheless KFSF and IMM algorithm, though revealing a performance improvement compared with traditional KF, cannot achieve a satisfactory performance. After summarizing the limitation of existing algorithm,a novel approach, a fast MMAE algorithm based on EKF, which is likely to reduce the computational effort of traditional MMAE and shorten the estimation delay of existing state estimation, is proposed. Then a Monte Carlo simulation study is presented, comparing of the merits of the fast MMAE/EKF approach to those of KF, KFSF and IMM, for DGL/0. PN and APN law, belonging to unilateral control, assumed that the guidance system owns an ideal dynamic characteristic, cannot offer a satisfactory homing performance. Finally, the paper proposes a hybrid differential game guidance law based on MMAE/EKF DGL/H, the experiment proved that the method has good guidance performance, can effectively solve the problem of tactical ballistic missile interception.
