In recent years, Near Space’s strategic value has drawn the world’s attention. The space powers launched spacecrafts one after another to build the research platform, aiming at exploiting its potential value at both military and civil use. As one of the most important energy source, the solar energy acted a supporting role for the spacecraft’s normal operation based on its satety and cleanness. Therefore, the research for space solar cell both in theory and application would improve the high efficiency application of the spacecraft for the space solar cell. The calibration of solar cell had been concerned widely as a major means to study the cell. In special, the space calibration would greatly affect the space power technology’s process. However, the traditional calibration method using solar simulator for few parameters could not reflect the characteristics of solar cell completely and accurately.The article discussed the main following points: Aimming at the deficiency that the characteristics of solar cell could not be reflected completely and accurately using solar simulator method, this paper focused on the plan of space calibration for the whole I-V curve and curve fitting for space solar cell were mainly discussed in this article. A set of calibration system for space solar cell was designed which can complete the automatic calibration for solar cell in space test platform. Meanwhile, the PSO algorithm was introduced to fit the solar cell’s I-V curve using Matlab. A series of ground experiments could verify the feasibility and accuracy of the system and fitting algorithm.Firstly, aimming at the defects existing in the integrity for one-way solar cell model, based on the mechanism and working characteristics of solar cell, this paper introduced the solar cell’s reverse factors to build an extended model through analysing its mathematical model and main performance parameters, as well as the unknown parameters contained were analyzed concretely;Secondly, aimming at the defects of complexity and singleness in normal calibration systems, this paper using the digital load and the method of scanning the output voltage by changing the current which flowing through the solar cell, a set of space solar cell calibration system was designed. This system can complete the functions of collecting and storaging of solar cell’s I-V data in the space environment. Thus the system can aquire the measured I-V curve for standardized solar cell in AM0;Finally, aimming at the defect of accuracy in normal curve fitting algorithm, the PSO algorithm was introduced to fitting the measured I-V data in this paper. Through the curve fitting, the unknown parameters of the extended model were obtained and thus can acquire the I-V characteristic curve by the precise I-V equation. The PSO algorithm can make the fitting result improve comparing with normal methods.
