With the advance in distributed generation and grid technology, more and more distributed generators(short for DG) are gaining access to the distribution power network. DG’s access to distribution power network makes the distribution power network complex and hard to plan. Maxflow algorithm and minimum cost flow algorithm have a wide application dealing with network flow problems, so we address a flow based scheme on the distribution power system planning with DG in this paper. In this paper, the following work is done:1) A graph model is formulated with the objective of minimizing theyearly cost of the distribution power system. The model mainlyintroduces the economy cost, the outage cost and some necessaryconstraints in the distribution power system planning.2) On the basis of the graph model, a two-stage heuristic method isproposed to make the optimization of the capacity and sizing ofdistributed generation, feeder upgrading and substation upgrading.3) Taking power reliability as an important objective, a hydridmethod including tie-line optimization and DG placement isproposed to pursue an economic and reliable distribution powerystem plan.We apply our proposed method to two typical cases and the experimental results show that the proposed method can get better solution quickly and efficiently.
