Passive entry and passive start system is gradually becoming one of the most representative vehicle wireless access solution in recent years. More and more well-known domestic and foreign OEMs nowadays extend the PEPS system from the high level carlines into the low level carlines. In such context, a set of self-developed PEPS system not only can greatly reduce the development cost of the products, but also offer the possibility of the self-improvement for the PEPS system.Base on the independent research and development process of the PEPS system, detailing introduced the working principle, the authentication process and the system composition of the PEPS system. From the views like system design, mechanical design, software design, hardware design and design validation, provided a design and implementation case of the PEPS system, and introduced the technical means which be used in the PEPS system, such as the authentication mode between PEPS base station and the smart key, the smart key low frequency awaken and high frequency authentication, as well as the accurate positioning between the smart key and the PEPS base station. At the same time, presented a detailed description of the mechanical design and the electronic hardware and software design for the each component of the PEPS system. During the mechanical design process, via CATIA design software to build and detail the structure of each component; during the hardware design process, via Mentor design software to define the PCB layout of ECU and smart key; during the software design process, use the system proposal from NXP to define the ID validation program, etc.Based on the proposed PEPS system design method, a set of complete PEPS system has entered to SOP in my company already. Currently, this PEPS system has been successfully applied to the BAIC Saab and Great Wall Haval H2 carlines, and the market reflects are very good. In the next two years, this PEPS system will gradually be applied to the other famous domestic OEMs such as Southeast and Geely, etc.
