With artificial bamboo veneer and thin-wall steel as raw material, after reasonable cementation and screw reinforcement can be made into a new type of structure: steel-bamboo composite structure. This kind of composite structure overcomes the drawback of steel and bamboo, give full play to the advantages of both. Experiment has proved the steel-bamboo components with excellent performance, can be used in practice engineering. In order to study the performance change of composite members in normal use, the paper studied the mechanics performance of steel-bamboo composite box column during under long-term.This paper designed and fabricated 8 kinds of 32 steel-bamboo composite short column, and carried out 3 types of test: First of all,with section dimension, steel ratio and screw and screw spacing as the parameter, took a short-term failure test on 16 short column. Studied the effect of each parameter on the mechanical properties of composite short column, to determine the long-term load value, and do the yield load theory research; Secondly, with load level as a parameter, took a long-term loading test on 16 composite short column, studied the creep deformation of composite short column under long-term load, and took a theory study on it; Finally, in section size, load level and the screws as the parameters, took a second destructive test on the 8 short column after long-term load, studied the effect of each parameters on mechanical properties of composite short column after long-term load,At the same time, made a comparison between the first breakdown test and the second breakdown test, studied the effect of long-term load on mechanical properties of the steel-bamboo composite fox short column.The results showed that, the steel and bamboo in steel-bamboo composite fox short column has good common work performance, Composite short column has excellent mechanical properties; the destruction of the composite short column has a certain regularity; section size and steel ratio have a apparent effect on the mechanical property of short column, screw don’t affect the short-term mechanics performance of the composite short column, But it can improve the mechanical properties of combination column after long-term load; under long-term load, deformation of steel-bamboo composite box column has the creep properties of general material, temperature and humidity have a certain impact on the creep of composite short column, the creep model established in this paper can be used in combination column, theoretical and experimental values is consistent; the role of long-term load have a effect on the mechanical properties of composite columns, but still meet the requirements of normal use of components, therefore, the steel-bamboo composite box column can be applied to the construction of practical engineering.
