Abstract/Summary:
Road alignment has a positively associated with traffic safety, when it changes the driver’s line of sight is hard to change with it drastically. Therefore the straight road to horizontal curve transition is one of the high incidence of accidents. raised pavement markers as a function of the delineation facilities, can effectively reduce the traffic accidents caused by bad sight, which has been widely used in developed countries like America etc, but its setting way in the relevant rules of our country are only general principles, the relevant research results are rare too. In the relevant layout spacing studies of raised pavement markers, its principle is also directly using foreign test results based on chevron, which remains unproved in raised pavement markers. This paper summarizes the driver’s vision, visual field, visual perception and other characteristics of the driving process impact on raised pavement markers of recognition distance and other parameters. Considering the influence of alignment, nighttime vehicle lights on driver’s visual performance to determine the visibility region driving in horizontal curve. Then the method of the driver curvature perception has been studied, depth analysis driving characteristics of the driver at the curve. Based on it, visual continuity and best curvature perception two kinds of raised pavement markers setting model proposed, and according to different design speed defined layout spacing of raised pavement markers on account of visual continuity model. The key parameters in the theoretical model of curvature perception has been determined through the simulation test method. So, Additional research is focus on the3 ds Max modeling, establishing the road, car, raised pavement markers and some necessary test scene elements, lighting technology simulates driving environment at night, render output means make the test scenarios more realistic. The test output 7 different pictures according to different number of raised pavement marker arranged on both sides of lane. In order to investigate the relationship between the the number of raised pavement marker and the accuracy of curvature perception the subjective evaluation has been used. The results show that when the raised pavement marker number less than 3, drivers will not be able to identify the linear; when the number is greater than 6, linear induction effect will no longer increase.According to the experimental results, obtained the raised pavement marker layout spacing based on curvature perception model. Then compared with the layout spacing based on visual continuity model, the result show that, the layout spacing based on curvature perception model is more scientific. Finally according to the calculated data from general minimum of horizontal curve radius in Design Specification for Highway Route Fitting out the general layout spacing relationship between the horizontal curve radii which can provide reference and recommendations for existing norms of relevant content.
