In 2008,our company introduced HXN5 diesel locomotive from the United States GE company, and launched into production. But it appeared many wheels abnormal abrasion, and spring broken problem in the process of practical application, brought lots of troubles to the user. Therefore, in order to solve the above problem, company apply to original ministry of railways for the scientific research project of double cab and dynamics performance optimization research the of HXN5 type diesel locomotive, carried out the study of original HXN5 bogie design improvements.First of all, the reasons for wheels abnormal abrasion and the spring broken were analysed by dynamic simulation analysis. According to analysis result, the root of defects was the guide type positioning of axle box, so made the decision-changing the guide type positioning into single axle pulling-rod type positioning. Eliminated friction pair, and added the axle pulling-rod with relapse stiffness. The key designing of single axle pulling-rod bogie is axle box and frame. Axle box adopt single axle pulling-rod positioning, eliminated guide positioning. In order to verify the rationality of the structure design and validity of the improved design, the statics analysis of key parts had been carried out. Dynamic simulation of single axle pulling-rod bogie also had been done, and the analysis results were compared with the original HXN5 bogie, it showed, the new bogie dynamic performances had been improved. To illustrate the theoretical analysis is correct, carried on the dynamic test and 100000 km application inspection of sample locomotive. Dynamic test and application inspection results showed that the development of single axle pulling-rod bogie, have exactlly reduced the occurrence of the fault, reached the final destination that soluted the wheel abnormal abrasion and spring break.
