With the continuous development of highway construction in Qinghai province, the quality problems which were caused by the constrction problems of asphalt pavement have attracted more and more attention. Combining with the characteristics of the environment and resources in Qinghai, the quality control of asphalt pavement was systematically studied in this paper.The properties of aggregate have a close relationship with the construction and use quality of asphalt pavement. The strength, particle shape, surface texture, chemical properties and water absorption of aggregate have influence on the using performance of asphalt pavement. The gravel in Qinghai has complex lithology, which leads to the different use of raw materials. This paper has studied the selection requirement of gravel and the technical requirements of asphalt and aggregate for asphalt pavement in different regions, put forward the quality requirements of qinghai province gravel processing technology and the selection standard of asphalt in Qinghai province.The use quality of asphalt mixture is closely related to the vast area and complex climate in Qinghai province.By means of investigating the adaptability of asphalt mixture performance indicators to different regions in Qinghai province, this paper mainly studied the water stability, low temperature anti-cracking performance and high-temperature stability of asphalt mixture. It suggests that the technical requirement of water stability should be appropriately raised in most of the southern plateau region and the northwest of the qilian mountains, the high temperature indicators also should be improved relatively to the current specification in haixi region and mineral-rich regions of the qilian mountains.Combing with the compaction characteristics of asphalt mixture, it proposes the the improved method and quality control points for each link of construction process, including the management of raw materials, analyses the problems of producting and controlling of mixing plant, transportation, paving and rolling of asphalt mixture. This paper also studied the aging of asphalt mixture under different paving temperature and explored the application of warm mix technique in Qinghai province. The indoor research found that the aging of asphalt mixture caused by temperature is obvious, warm mix technique can effectively reduce the temperature of asphalt mixture and its construction performance is still good. According to the research results, the experimental road was laid and the mixture gradation is good, the pavement compaction effect is ideal which has reached the expected requirement, which provides the quality control experience of asphalt pavement for the subsequent project in Qinghai province.
