The analysis of stress and geometry of the main cable, as the key and priority of a suspension bridge’s calculation, is effected by complicated and various parameters, worthy of further study on parameter analysis, more accurate for practical engineering. In these years our country highway construction constantly developed into the mountain and valley area, suspension bridge has a broad prospect, as a result of the complicated terrain line selection decision, unequal height pylons, which is a special form of suspension bridge, now have a very realistic research value. Therefore, this paper combined with the engineering example, focuses on the unequal height main pylon suspension bridge, analyses how this special force form effect on the main cable performance of suspension bridge and the influencing factors. This actual engineering is a typic al unequal heights anchored long-span suspension bridge, on both sides of the two pylons the height difference is 10.362 m.Firstly this paper analyses and explores the main cable’s exact analytical calculation process, established the calculation method of main cable performance and its key parameters, also analyses the force characteristics of suspension bridge pylon and the existence of the affected calculation for main cable. Then this paper uses finite element software to establish the calculation model, also combined with the analytic formula calculation and detail correction. Then it will select appropriate parameters and factors of the unequal height tower suspension bridge, analyzed and compared. In the key calculation data selection, there would be: the stress of the main cable key spots, the vertical pressure of fulcrums, general linear of the main cable, tangent angle of saddles, the length of non-stressed main cable and its elongation. For these key points, based on the numerical calculation and c urve fitting, data analysis to study the characteristics of the unequal height tower suspension bridge. Finally, after the summary and analysis of obtained results, we found that the form of unequal height pylon suspension bridge have a significant adverse impact on stress and linear of the main cable, leads to the increase of the main cable tension and the vertical stress on fulcrums, the asymmetric redistribution of the force on the whole bridge, the overall linear deviation, and the obvious stress negative trends on the higher side tower. The main influence focus on the middle span, the influence on side span and the anchor span is very limited.In this paper, through the analysis of the unequal height pylon suspension bridge effect on performance of main cable, we draw some corresponding conclusion. It could provides some reference for the calculation and analysis in this special form of suspension bridge.
