Development of public transportation is one of the important measures to solve the problem of urban traffic. Following rising of small and medium-sized cities in economic development, the traffic problem is bound to seek solution in terms of public transportation. Intelligent is the trend of the development of public transport, the emergence of the intelligent transport system can enhance credibility, public transport is the key to solve the problem of small and medium-sized cities public transportation situation.On the basis of analyzing the problems of domestic and intelligent transportation systems and bus arrival time prediction method, summarized on intelligent transportation systems at the present stage, targeted to small and medium cities is proposed based on intelligent traffic information systems, including five subsystems; in data acquisition systems, data fusion techniques proposed for mobile and fixed collector collection technology integration and comprehensive data collection, capture technology involves GPS technology and RFID technology; in the bus arrival time prediction algorithm, algorithm fuzzy membership bus arrival time prediction, and refine the bus stop sign information display system, thereby increasing the amount of public information release; Taking Haining city as an example, intelligent transportation information systems proposed validated, the results show that the system can to some extent, increase the amount of public information dissemination.Paper using RFID data collection technology, the data fusion technology is introduced into the data acquisition; the pioneering proposed to GPS data and integrated RFID data processing, high efficiency perfect data acquisition system. Thesis research on small and medium-sized urban intelligent public transportation information system can increase the bus information release quantity; improve public travel, bus travel competitiveness and efficiency. At the same time, in terms of ease congestion and optimizing the road car travel have important practical application value.
