Abstract/Summary:
Since the high density and fast response characteristic of high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES), the SMES has been seen as a most potential energy storage method technique. On the other hand, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission(FACTS) is developed at top speed too, SMES is one kind of FACTS, so SMES had been used in power grid to solve some problems. Nowdays, with the continuous development of the high temperature superconducting material and low temperature technique, the cost of SMES coil cooling can be significantly reduced. Also, some project which ues SMES in solving some power quality problems have been appeared. Those verify the feasibility and practicability from the theory analysis and practical applications of SMES system. To solve the referred issues, working principle of the SMES system under intelligent control is discussed in this thesis. An innovation and exploratory study is carried on SMES devices thorough analysis the charging and discharging characteristics. The thesis mainly includes:1. The model of Current source converter and voltage source converter SMES is completed. The analysis of voltage source converter SMES when the SMES is charging, discharging and storing energy is completed.2. Using the intelligent strategy control the SMES system.Improve the stability and efficiency of SMES system through improves the control strategy.3. Discuss the function of SMES system when energy is exchange between power grid and SMES system. How is the SMES system balance the power load.4. After the simulation and experiment, the function of SMES in grid is concluded. The SMES unit can compensate power in a short time. Even the load in the grid change a lot, the SMES can blance the power instantly, this will ensure the security of grid.
