Study On The Early Warning System Of Construction Engineering Project Based On The Theory Of Failure Knowledge Management

Construction engineering project is a special product requiring vast resource-consumption; it is usually finished by multi-parties composed of a series of activities. Possessing such features as being exclusive, constructed in large scale and operated outdoors, numerous indeterminate factors will emerge in the process of project management, which will augment the risk in the project activity. Currently, with the domestic construction industry’s access to the international market, the competition among participants becomes increasingly intense. Consequently, a single accident will affect the whole project, or even worse, ruin the business that carried out the project. Hence, risk management proves to be one of the vital pathways of achieving construction engineering management.In the application of risk management, the informatization of domestic project is less advanced and the data needed by the management staff is inadequate, as a result, only quantitative analysis is available. In this study, the theory of failure knowledge management is introduced and applied for the project risk management to promote the formulation of the knowledge system and the accumulation of engineering data.In order to improve the risk management of construction projects and facilitates the way by which project directors prevent and control the risk, pre-and-post project risk management was introduced by adopting early warning system and the theory of failure knowledge management as well as taking into consideration the characteristics of each construction project. The models of early warning system proposed in this study are based on theory of failure knowledge management, including the project knowledge management system, the failure knowledge management system and the early warning system. By referring to the basic data obtained from a university’s apartment building project in Gansu province along with other similar projects, the failure knowledge management system and the early warning system of this project was established. The result of early warning experiment indicates that the system is applicable to field work to forecast any possible risk in the engineering project and provide beforehand control measures as well as post-treatment measures, which will also be contributive to the informationization construction of the construction industrv.
