Study On Application Of Sculpture In Yuxi Park Of Shijiazhuang

As an important part of the city’s spirit and culture construction, sculpture is the main carrier of enhancing the cultural connotation of urban and modeling the looks of the city. It is not only a kind of cultural accumulation, but also a reflection of history and a symbol of age. Through the elegant shape, distinctive theme and unique art language of sculpture, the author made a reflection of urban history and modern life. Compared with some big cities, such as Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, Shijiazhuang is not a mature city on the aspect of sculpture. Although the city environment and residents’ living standard had improved enormously, the application of sculpture was still relatively lagging behind, which brought many problems to sculpture, such as crudely made, blind imitation and lacking of innovation, leading to a serious affection of city’s construction. Based on these phenomena, it has become a critical issue of pointing and solving the current problems of Shijiazhuang.In the paper, the author selected the sculpture of Yuxi park of Shijiazhuang as the study object, and made a comprehensive survey of the sculptures’ present situation with data collection, field survey, questionnaire survey and photo shooting in order to summit the problems of Yuxi and put forward the corresponding improvement measures. Based on this research, we can draw the following conclusions:First, based on the analysis of the sculpture’s elements and environment features, the main factors that influenced the standard of sculpture can be extracted, including the theme, material, shape, color, scale and environment.Second, it can be concluded by making a classification based on the analysis of Yuxi park elements of sculpture(theme, material, shape, color, scale), in order to find the application status of sculpture: the main theme of sculpture is folk custom, the main material of sculpture is stone. The shape of sculpture mainly used a kind of art processing technique called concrete circular sculpture. The sculpture with pavement in small size is in the majority.Third, we can draw the conclusion by analyzing the sculptures in Shijiazhuang park: ①Reflecting the ecological environment and regional characteristics should be taken into consideration. ②Visitors preferred stone in material, Chinese red in color and small size in scale. ③The selection and preference of different ages of Yuxi park is lack of consideration.Forth, evaluating 17 sculptures synthetically by AHP, “Quyang stone” got the highest score(14.93), and “squirrel and teenager” got the lowest score(6.815). Besides, the lowest scores of evaluation factors are as followed: regionalism, combination of sculpture and facilities, unity of landscape organization, and capability of inspiring the public.Fifth, according to the investigation on application of Shijiazhuang Yuxi park, it can be found the following problems in sculpture: lacking of diversity, poorly selection and color of sculpture, having a confliction with the theme of environment. Also, sculpture and the environment is not matched, and it is not considered public preference. What’s more, the sculpture and the surrounding environment is not closely related to each other. To solve these problems, the paper proposes some corresponding improvement strategy. For instance, exploring the culture history of Yanzhao, reducing imitation; the application of materials and colors should reflect the spirit of innovation; the sculpture of the park should be coordinated and unified; the application of sculpture should be combined with public preference; establishing a reasonable evaluation system of sculpture application. Also, the paper gives some detail suggestions about the application of sculpture, and guides the application of sculpture in practice so that to provide reference for the construction of sculpture in the future.
